Oil Level and Color
Use the dipstick to check vehicle's engine oil level and examine the color of the oil - if the level is low or the oil is a dark brown or black, it's time for an oil change.
Mileage
Conventional oil typically requires a 3,000-mile change interval, while synthetic typically lasts for a 6,000-mile change interval. Consult our service center or your vehicle's owner manual to determine your proper oil change interval.

Synthetic or Conventional?

There are differing opinions on whether synthetic or conventional oil is best for your vehicle. However, research and real-world use have determined that synthetic oil has many advantages over conventional oil. Advantages of synthetic oil include:

Unlike conventional oil, synthetic oil is not affected by the temperature, therefore it does not thicken in the cold or thin in the heat. This is important when you start your vehicle and the oil needs to quickly move to the upper engine.
Synthetic oil has a greater shear strength at the molecular level, meaning that the oil can not be torn due to the extreme pressure of tight tolerances.

How to Check Oil Level

Run your Nissan until the engine has reached normal operating temperature.
Park on a level surface, and turn off the engine.
Allow your engine to cool down for a few minutes.
Open the hood of your vehicle.
Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it.
Withdraw the dipstick and hold it horizontally so the oil does not drip.
Examine the dipstick to assess whether the oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks.
If the oil level is below the minimum level, top off your oil.
Each Nissan model has different requirements, so review your owner's manual for the appropriate oil.
